What is a Social Enterprise? 

A social enterprise is a social business with specific social objectives.  Social Enterprises seek to maximize profits while mazimizing benefits to society.  The profits are principally used to fund social programs.

Key Elements of Social Enterprise:

  • Unlike a charity,  social enterprise pursue general revenue

  • Funding for social enterprise is often obtained by selling goods and services

  • Preference is given to job seekers from at-risk communities

  • Social enterprise invites investors who have a social commitment
