The New Beginnings Overflow Emergency Lodging (Noel Lodge), located at 400 West 2nd in Hutchinson, KS, is a project made possible through the collaboration of four local churches: Journey Mennonite Church (formerly South Hutchinson Mennonite), Crossroads Christian Church, Salt City Family Church, and The Father's House.
After recognizing the great need for a shelter to house people with no place to stay, the churches banded together to raising tens of thousands of dollars for materials and provided volunteer labor to get the shelter up and running. Local contractors also donated or discounted labor and materials.
The Noel Lodge opened in April 2013. The shelter opens each night at 5:30 p.m. and closes at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. Beds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner and breakfast are provided at the shelter by volunteers. The shelter offers lockers for users to leave their belongings in during the day.
New Beginnings is grateful for the genuine outpouring of support for this project. Thank you to the community for coming together in a united effort to help those who are displaced from their homes. Read more about the Noel Lodge in the Hutchinson News article here.
